The basic wardrobe... We've all heard the phrase, we've all
doubted what it really is, and I think everybody would love to own
the perfect basic wardrobe. All the people I know with amazing
style, who always look fashionable and put together all have one
thing in common - having the perfect basic wardrobe under
control.
When you have the perfect basic wardrobe, dressing will always
be easy (...Or, easier!) All the things in your wardrobe will fit
together in hundreds of different combinations. I think the perfect
basic wardrobe is a wardrobe, small or big, containing classic,
good-quality pieces, that can last for a lifetime.
I like to splurge on my basic wardrobe, my classic pieces, since
I know they'll last me longer than this-season's trendy pattern,
which'll be dead within a month or two. You can spice up all the
basic clothes with trendy, one-season pieces. Even though I
wouldn't describe myself as the girl wearing all the right, trendy
patterns and crazy trends, I prefer to buy these very
this-monent-only-pieces in highstreet shops like Topshop, H&M
or so. And I like my basic items to be good quality, so I spend
more on these items.
But enough of me blabbering off, here we go, what I think are
the most important pieces in the perfect basic wardrobe (And hey,
this is just my spin on the basic wardrobe, everyones are
different):
- Tees and tops; Simple t-shirts and tops for
everyday use. Soft material, layer-friendly and maybe slightly
c-through. Colors like white, black, grey, nude and camel.
- Jeans; The perfect pair of jeans is essential
to any good wardrobe! The perfect jeans should fit you perfectly
and suit your body type. I like mine low-waist, very tight and
maybe just a little worn out. Colors like black, dark or light
denim.
- The LBD; This one is kind of obvious. A
good-fit little black dress. No crazy special effects, just a
simple dress with maybe a little nice detailing like a creative cut
or a cute neckline.
- Cardigan; A simple cardigan in a simple shade.
Go for soft materials like cashmere. Oversize or a smaller version
is up to you.
- Heels; A good pair of killer heels for both
everyday and party. I prefer my heels to be wedges, since I am not
that old, so I find stilettos a little bit inappropriate for
everyday-use. I love my black/brown Acne Atacomas - they look good
with both jeans and dresses and they're simple so they go with
pretty much everything. I find that cheap shoes usually aren't very
good to walk in, so I'd say go splurge on a pair of good-quality
shoes.
- Sneakers; A pair of good sneakers for everyday
use. Maybe with jeans, a t-shirt, leather jeacket and jewelry. I
like my new Acne Dragon in red, they're really cute and gives a
little color to a simple outfit. Color of sneakers depends what you
want.
- Leather jacket; I'm getting so exited about
leather jackets! I bought my perfect leather jacket some days
ago... I'll show you! The perfect leather jacket can be feminine,
worn out, sculptural, oversize, tight... you name it. I like to
wear a leather jacket with jeans, t-shirt, a long necklace, wedges
and loose hair.
- Everyday jewelry; My favorite everyday jewelry
is my small, silver bracelets. My skinny, silver rings and long
silver necklaces with simple pendants. Jewelry spices up every
slightly boring outfit.
- The leather bag; I find an oversize, luxurious
leather bag essential. Practical and really cool. I like my big,
black Balenciaga, which I wear all the time.
This is my very simple and cut-down version of my perfect basic
wardrobe. I wish to someday have the perfect basic wardrobe myself,
but I think my vision of it changes constantly. I think people who
can make really simple, basic outfits look exiting and non-boring
are gifted and I wish to be able to do that myself one day! I think
it's about layering, mixing materials and try new, exiting cuts and
shapes in the basic wardrobe, that makes the basic wardrobe exiting
and full od life.
What are your addings to my list of basic must-haves?
And what do you think about these (very!) long post?
